writes: my boyfriend and i had sex while i was on my period, i was under the understanding that you couldn't get pregnant while on your period. i'm also on birth controll but the pills you take while on your period are just reminder pills not actually birth controll. so my question is can you get pregnant while your on your period?

Yes you can get pregnant.
But because you were on birth control your body wouldn't of had an egg in the uterus because the the pill is a hormone which tricks the body into thinking its pregnant so it doesn't produce an egg.
Too be on the safe side get the morning after pill its within 72 hours and take your pill when your next due to.

reader, anonymous, writes (15 July 2009): it is not highly unlikely....... you can get pregnant and actually when you have your period it is one of your most fertile times. even on the pill, those are only like 90% affective. i would use some protection if i were you.
