Slightly concerned as my boyfriend has some form of full blown gum disease, he's lost a majority of his teeth and everything, also its not from his own neglect of oral health its a condition that has unfortuneatly been passed down in his family, my point anyway im concerned that I may contract it? Honey, why don't you ask your doctor about this? The doctor will have plenty of answers for you, and will be much more qualified to answer than any of us. But, I am assuming that if you have not noticed a change in your own mouth (teeth, gums etc) then all should be fine. :) x

If it's a genetic thing then it's probably not going to mean there are bacteria / virus / germs that can be passed to you.
If it means that he has sores, ulcers, or blood or anything nasty in his mouth then yes there is the possibility of you catching something, or him getting infected from you.
We have a lot of nasty stuff in our mouths, this is why our stomachs are full of acid to kill it all.
Good Luck!! xx
