Although if this "gotcha" tone is part of your normal relationship I cant see why he needs a break from it.

Sweet-thing agony auntI don't think so, unless he sees her more regularly and begins to form a bond with her, such as talking about his problems, his dreams, his feelings and leaving you out of the picture. It sounds like he was in a flirtatous mood, but it might be worthwhile to go with him the next time he goes out to the bar. It may not be your scene, but dancing can be alot of fun and it can bring you closer together because it's like dating again, and it sounds like he may be craving some kind of "renewal" in your relationship, so be open to the possibility of having fun together in this enviornment. It beats letting him go without you!!
