Morning after pill should really only be used if you got no choice. It is not meant to be taken as a precaution, more as an emergency fix if the precaution failed.
Better to go on the pill.
And condoms are the only protection against STD's.

Condoms make a huge difference in stopping both pregnancy and STD's, since they block the sperm and infections. The morning after pill can only help with pregnancy and cannot help with STD's. There is also the contraceptive pill, which is taken by women throughout the month and again can only help prevent pregnancy. The best combination is for you to use the contraceptive pill, and to use condoms. Then you will be protected against pregnancy and most STD's, though there is always a slim chance they won't work. But if you're careful, you'll be fine. You live in Britain, so you can see the doctor for free with complete confidence and they will be able to offer you the best advice.
