A female South Africa age 41-50, anonymous writes:

This time it is a work issue. I have been with this company for 8 months. I have just received feedback from the executive boss, who wrote very harsh words that left me feeling distraught....

This is a mid-management position. it is the first time I have received a management job, so I can say I was still finding my ground in the new position.

It is not that I have not performed at all. I personally feel like I did well (this is the feedback I received from my immedate supervisor). We agreed on a higher score which he felt I truly deserved. My immediate supervisor always praise me and he feels i do the great job. He motivates, supports and thanks me whenever i come with a suggestion. I performed professionally well even though I do feel I could have done more. The past 8 months has been exhausting. I have had sleepless nights and ended up working during weekends

there is a lot of activity going on in my current job. I had to start everything from scratch. When I arrived no one has done my job before. I had to start from drafting strategies, and policies to executing work...

I spent the 6 months executing all the plans. I succesfully ran all the events, I produced two quarterly newsletters, built the website from scratch, compiled list of stakeholders, crafted messages and even managed to source partnerships internally and externally....

I could notice the boss had some issues with me. He always pretended to like me, but I tried to keep the distance from him, so I do not find myself saying career limiting things. I have had arguements with him at some point. He once tried to accuse me of a task which he said i did not do. It turned out we once exchanged email conversations on that particular task and he was proven wrong....

also he has a tendency of writing very bad emails with grammatical errors and no addressing me as Hi or Dear....He will write an email as if he is pissed off..

I picked up he has reduced my performance score and below is the feedback he gave me

As I said the process may continue and your scores could be reduced further.

Essentially the committee feels that you have not really performed well for your task.

You seem unprepared in your approach. The question was raised about your suitability to the task.

At the level of project manager at Senior Specialist, you do not seem to have produced much.

Your attitude towards your work is also shows a lack of professionalism.

Your outputs show lack on ingenuity, reflecting more work to instruction, than value add.

Quoting from the document; (note: changes may still be effected, depending on the final score of the CBU. If your CBU goes further down yours will do likewise)

How can I remedy this. Can someone give me ideas on how to perform better to either save my job or to build a relationship with the big boss??
