If you and your "former" friend aren't really friends any more I don't see the problem. You want to date him, he wants to date you... What she wants is kind of irrelevant, isn't it?
I mean she can WANT to be with him all she wants, but obviously it is not what HE wants....
Are you sure OP that you are in your 30's? Not teens?
