A reader, anonymous, writes (10 June 2009):

The most simple way to put this is yes! It doesnt matter whether a girl is on her period or not, she can become pregnant on any day during her period and withdrawal is never a good method of birth control! sperm is released even before the point of ejaculation and its highly likely that there is still sperm left in her even when you pull out.this can cause her to become pregnant. Try not to panic because you cannot change the past.whats done is done but have you spoke to your partner about this? has she considered taking the morning after pill? The "morning after pill" is a high dose of birth control pills taken within 120 hours (or five days) after the unprotected intercourse/sex to prevent pregnancy. The sooner it is taken, the more effective it is. i hope this has helped you in some way. good luck. i hope everything turns out ok for you.xx

A female reader, Olivia(Y). United Kingdom +, writes (10 June 2009):

Olivia(Y). agony auntThere is a small chance she could be pregnant.

The egg comes out in her urine when she is on her period, this may be the first day or could even be the last day you can't tell.

Pre-cum can get you pregnant and so can ejaculating around her vagina. You produce millions of sperm, it takes one to make a baby.

Get her the morning after pill to be on the safe side.

Why weren't you using protection if you don't want to get her pregnant? If you are having regular sex get her to go on the pill or implant and you should ALWAYS wear a condom.
