no. you cant expect to go into the gym for a few hours and come out a different person.
in order to see a difference physically you need to excercise regularly and eat well. swimming, walking, dancing, surfing and tennis are great ways to work on your body and all the parts of it. just dont overdo it in one session - you need to introduce your body to a new workout regime or you will strain yourself.
when you go to the gym with your friend, start by stretching to warm up your muscles.
you dont have to go to a gym to workout and tone up your body - sit ups are amazing for toning a flattening you stomach.
- lunges are great for you legs
- walking and running
- dancing is great for you legs, stomach and bum
you could also get a workout dvd and workout at home.

You might feel like you can breathe better, more relaxed after the workout, maybe more energetic, your brain might feel a little clearer (cause of all the oxygen flow that's going through your body) and you will definitely get a really good night sleep.
But the only way to see results on your physique is to CONSISTENTLY work out, day after day.

To make a physical difference, you have to work out consistantly at least 3-4 times a week. I have been working out for years, and I have read a lot of books and articles on the subject.
Weight-Training is great. You don't have to use HEAVY weights to make a difference, after all, you don't want to look manly. ha ha
I do 120 regular sit-ups a day, excercize with 10 lb weights, and powerwalk every other day. I am 53 years old, but I look years younger.
Excersize should be a "Way of Life", and the result is a "Hot-Bod"
My ex husband is in his 60's, and he works out on a regular basis too.

Your muscles will get pumped up so you might notice a toning affect for a few hours afterwards. They'd get all stretched out in the right places and would fill up with blood.
But once they calmed down to normal size again then you would be exactly as you were before, just a bit fitter and a bit sorer.
You don't have to go to an expensive gym to get fit. Tins of beans work just as well as weights, swimming down at the local leisure centre will get you fit too.
Good Luck!! xx
