well
if you have short hair, it looks good gelled spiky hair, i think it just looks fresh and clean,
boys which have facial hair, i think look good shaved, again for a clean look,
a nice pair of trainers, jeans or boardies(surf or skater shorts) and a t shirt is usualy a great all round look.
wear something which is comfortable, like people have mentioned and reflects your personality, or the things/music your into.
wear colours that you like, and look good with you and your skin colour.
just be yourself, its personality that counts not what you look like, but there just some tips, which i find, works well...

Your best bet is to trawl through all the online clothing catalogues. They nearly all have a section for boys and young men even though the sections for women nearly always have a much greater range.
Personally I think men and boys should wear what makes them most comfortable rather than worry about what's fashionable. Something that reflects your own feelings, comfort and personality is, in my opinion, very much better than trying to be "fashionable". But maybe that's an old fashioned attitude!
