A female Ireland age 36-40, anonymous writes:

There's something wrong with my vagina. The lips are swollon and tender and my discharge is extremly think and pasty and there's unnatural ammounts of it. It's also white.. Not the slightest bit transparent. There is no smell.

It's been like this for almost a year and a half.

I have one sexual partner who has been tested and come out clear twice (He has not been with anyone else since these tests or since I got the discharge). I have never been with anyone besides him.

I have been to the doctors about it a dozen times. And been tested several times. At first they told me it was Thrush and treated me... But it didn't work. Then I was told it was BV, which is like thrush, I was treated for it and it worked for a month or so. When it came back I got more tests and treated for thrush a few different times with different meds (as that was the only thing coming up on the tests) and BV aswel... But this time the treatment for BV didn't work.

It's affecting my sex life and making me very stressed.

Can someone please give me a clue as to what this could be or as to what I should do next. Going to the doctors all the time just isn't working. Thanks for any suggestions.

This is going to sound weird but hey ho, this cures thrush, bugs, soreness and whiffs in that area as well as athletes foot, dandruff, infected cuts and it can even be used to purify drinking water.

I know it sounds nuts, but look up grapefruit seed extract (not grape seed which is different) on line and read the scientific analysis and microbiology reports so you know I am not weird!

Get some from a health food shop or on line, dilute as it says on the bottle with some nice warm water, perhaps use the lower concentration first time. Actually you can use it to gargle as well, so if you want to get to know what it is like try that first. It tastes a little bitter as you would expect. Put the solution in a sports drinking bottle and squirt it inside yourself.

It does not interfere with natural flora and fauna internally or destroy good bacteria. It somehow makes bacteria inactive.

Please do write back and say whether it works for you too. All my family swear by it.

Hey!

This might be really off the wall, but if conventional medicine isnt working try seeing a homeopath or a nutritionalist. This sounds like it could be a hormone or nutritional imbalance or even a food allergy you dont know about! Try finding someone in your area who can do an assessment and try to find the imbalances that regular doctors wont look for! Its always worth a try if its really getting you down! :-D Hope it gets sorted honey and try not to worry!

Thank you Star 07 for your suggestion... But this is not the problem. I had tried over the counter and perscription medication to fight Yeast infections... It just won't work.

Thanks for trying I really appreciate it.

Star_07 agony auntAre you sure this is not just a yeast infection? I believe thrush is similar but usually develops in the mouth, not the vagina although it could be spread to the vagina. Have you tried over the counter medications for yeast infections? You can buy these at most drug stores and they usually take a few days of treating the infection for it to go away. If this is not the problem then I would suggest going to a gynecologist for further diagnosis!

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I am at my wit’s end with this.

I went to a sex clinic who tested me and told me I had Thrush but said what I was describing sounded like BV and treated me. It was this treatment that worked but yet it has not worked a second time.

I shall do some research into trichomoniosis, I have not heard of that before.

I shall also tell them to send me to a specialist.

Thank you so much.

A female reader, lexilou United Kingdom +, writes (2 June 2008):

lexilou agony auntBV usually has a very distinct fishy smell and a greenish discharge and is usually an imbalance caused by being too clean, thrush is described as having a cottage cheese appearance. Another one I can never spell is trichomoniosis which is caused by a parasite and does cause inflammation, caused by a parasite, this usually involves copious amount of a frothy disharge.

Im surprised your doctor hasnt sent you to the sexual health clinic, do you have them where you are??? You must keep going back and demanding that he gets to the root of this, keep a diary, is it worse after sex, aggrevated by certain materials ie silky underwear, worse around your period etc etc. I cant help you anymore than that but I would demand a full sexual health work over and if its not sexually related ask to see a specialist x
