Can anybody feel my frustration and confusion?

Question - (16 February 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 17 February 2010)
A female Australia age 30-35, anonymous writes:

We're LIKE a romantic couple but truth is he hasnt ask me yet but instead shocking me with the suggestion "let?

"let's be best friends"

why would a guy who likes her thinks that he doesnt want to confuse himself anymore and thinks they should and thinks they should just be best friends?

he likes her. he told her. he cuddles with her to sleep that one night.

he's always flirting around. she gets jealous a lot. he thinks it's a freedom to go movies with girls who he regard as "just friends" or some, "best friends". and he thinks it's a freedom to text those girls.

he's now saying he doesnt want to hurt her anymore. (well, 'cause she keeps getting hurt from all those jealousy and what not) and he thinks that they should be best friends. (it puzzles her cause they're at the brink of getting into a relationship and she finds it degrading to be compared to his other "girl-best friends" when they've been doing things like other romantic couples are doing: holding hands etc.)

and they went for dinner every night but now he's saying "as best friends, we'll still go for dinner whenever i'm free"

can anybody feel my frustration and confusion? it really surprises me how he came up to such decision. what do you think?
