We have a VERY deep love. The only thing that ruined it for me were the rumors from his students about us, and the way my mother reacted when i told her we had dated for a year and ended it. My mother, who is homophobic, told that she had preferred if I had told her I were gay than what I told her. She called him a monster. It's legal what you're doing. However, people will frown and say things that will break your heart. He will always be my best friend... and if we're single when I graduate university, I have no doubt that I will marry him. Until then, I will have to deal with my mother (who is... so very accepting of things usually.)I wish you goodluck. I hope that you have/get what I was so lucky to have.

"...legally he could go to prison if you were to have sex since there is such a large age gap."
Large Age Gap has nothing to do with it. The late Anna Nicole Smith married at 17 to the late J. Howard Marshall aged 80 - is this a small gap or a large one? 63 years of age, J. Howard Marshall is a grandpa!
If you are under 18, you can't have sex with anybody. I mean anybody - teacher or not, with another minor or not. That's it honey. That is the US law.
Wait until you are 18, change school and date your ex-teacher if he happens to be employed in the same school you are in.

Since you're so young, you're probably still in school. If he is still a teacher at that school, it is prohibited.
I would also be mindful of statutory rape laws. They vary from state to state, but legally he could go to prison if you were to have sex since there is such a large age gap.
Be careful. I work in a jail and see this kind of stuff all the time. You don't have to be the one to press charges- it could be your parents, school authorities, etc.
Once you're 18, go for it. People are only as old as they act and feel, and if you two are compatible, you could share a long and happy life together.

Is teacher dating his ex-student prohibited?
It is not prohibited for a teacher to date his ex-student, as far as the educational system is concerned, the student is no longer in the academic guardianship of the school and the teacher.
Can a student date and EX teacher?
It is also not prohibited for a student to date her ex-teacher, the ex teacher is no longer part of the school and therefore academic supervision of the ex-teacher no longer exist.
Is it frowned upon?
A lot of people have frowned upon many romances, not only between ex-teachers and students or between teachers and ex-students.
Their prejudices have existed in many forms - jealousy, hate, envy and bigotry. Here are some examples:
A couple in the Scottish Borders are celebrating the diamond anniversary of a marriage which bridged the divisions of World War II. Rudi Drabner was a German prisoner of war before he wed his Scottish bride, Anna, in 1948 in Hawick.

Gay marriages were frowned upon by the conservatives but that didn't stop Elton John from marrying Gary Farrow who is 16 years younger than the singer.

People frown on interracial marriages. But that didn't prevent Barack Hussien Obama II from becoming the President of the United States of America. (His mother was white and his father a black Kenyan). It did not stop the former UN Secretary General Koffi Annan to marry a white woman.

People frown when the late Anna Nicole Smith, who was 17 then married oil business executive and billionaire J. Howard Marshall, 63 years her senior, resulted in speculation that she married the octogenarian for his money, which she denied.

Some people frown, anything that they could not understand. Some people even frown on what they could understand. Because some people are filled with hate and do not understand what LOVE is.
LOVE is so powerful that it destroys barriers, boundaries, races, religion and even hate itself.
I have commented upon similar cases like what you have right now.

Check it out.
My advice: You have a green light and it says GO. Love is all that matters.

reader, anonymous, writes (17 January 2009): Its frowned apon but not illegal if ur no longer a student and over 18. Lots of relationships have massive ages gaps, I no people who have been married for years but are like 15years of an age gap. If ur serious about him it could work, but be careful if hes still a teacher it could affect his carreer.
Gd luck
