My b/f used to take Diovan though it didn't control his blood pressure that well and his temperament was always combative and argumentative. Then he got switched to a new drug and for 8 months he was so sweet and mellow and nice. I couldn't believe it was the same guy! No matter what I said or what I did he never lost his temper with me he was just so sweet and patient! But he complained of being tired all the time and his heart rate was really low (like 45). We talked to his doctor, and they switched him to Lisinopril. It's not controlling his bp as well, but he's not as tired anymore, his pulse rate is around 78 but so is his hot-headed combative personality! Now that I've seen the other side of him, the sweet side I don't think I can go back to being yelled at so much. I don't know what to do! Is this common with blood pressure medications? I'd hate to think the only way can deal with him is to drug him up on a medication that wipes him out physically. But I don't know what to do. Reply to this Question Share |

Having an increased blood pressure then the usual resting state could definitely lead to a more aggitated person. This is do to the body being confused as to what is going on since blood pressure increase is usually associated with anger when no meddication is being used.
This is definitely something that can be worked out with the doctor so that you two have a happy medium.
