writes: hey everyone,i have an unusual query, in regards to helping my 11 year old brother. no he isnt depressed, no he isnt in some other bad situation, he just gets very upset over video games. when he is playing by himself, even on a placid golf game on wii, every time he does a bad shot he starts swearing at the game, and everynow and then he will throw the controller. he hasnt damaged any thing really, but something is up. any way to pacify this type of agression?

reader, anonymous, writes (15 December 2009): How do you know he's not depressed? Its not like people with depression get a sticker on their forehead saying they are depressed. It could also be ADHD. Talk to your parents about your concern.

He seems like an anylitical thinker which means when he playes these games he very well knows with his physical ability that if in reality he could do the things he wanted to do. When a controller is all he has as a variable mechanism it makes him feel stupid when he can't do a shot or a jump or what ever he is trying to do. thus he becomes angry with the machine. and thinks its really dumb ... it is really dumb and he has to understand that the machine is not perfect like the human is.
Id suggest you take him to have a go at real golf or what ever sports game he is playing. Of course mario would probably a bit difficult in the real world.
