It was a very hard time for me.We got back together again and though he can be loving, he can also say hurtful things, be quite obnoxious on occasions. Can you explain to me this; he has a tenant living in his house. This guy nicks his food, is loud, lazy, never clears up after himself and is behind with his rent.Yet he doesn't throw him out. He told me the reason for this is because he isn't in his face (implying I have been). But do you know why?

Sounds to me like he is taking out on you what he feels he can't take out on his tenant for whatever reason, I do believe what his tenant is doing is getting to him but won't say anything to him so you are the brunt of that.
You need to talk to him and explain what he is doing to you and how he makes you feel.
You deserve to be loved 100% and don't deserve to attacked by his words.
