Yeah it is a date, its a chance to get to know her better and see if you get on and like each other and if you feel that something could develop then you should ask her out again and see where it goes.Hope this helps.

reader, anonymous, writes (9 February 2013): Agree with Daisy Daisy, but would suggest meeting after the movie so you can discuss the film you've just seen which will give you something to actually discuss and serve as a natural springboard for further conversation.
You may also want to do some research about the movie before you see it, not plot spoilers but reviews and other general information about the actors, director or similar films of the same genre as the one you're seeing, especially if it's a chick flick.
Just be yourself while responding to her cues; most people enjoy talking about themselves when prompted, so ask her what she thought, enjoyed, didn't like about the movie.
As a guy old enough to be your grandfather all I can say is being a gentleman and respecting young women will always be fashionable and never go out of style, sadly nowadays it's just becoming increasingly rarer and rarer among young men.

A trip to the cinema alone sounds like a date! You could ask her if she wants to meet for food/ drinks before or after the film since you can't do much talking at the cinema. Otherwise, wait until the end of the evening and ask her if she'd like to see you again. Hope it works out!
