I think it's something like 2/3 of all women have enough bleeding to be noticed the first time they have sex. It comes from rupturing your hymen, or possibly irritation from his erection stretching your vagina open for the very first time. Usually it lasts only a few minutes, though I've heard that some spotting may continue for a day or two. In most cases it only happens with your first intercourse but some women have slight bleeding for several times after the first.
The next time you have sex, ask your boyfriend to have a washcloth and some warm water handy to clean up any mess that may happen. If you read the account of my wife and I taking each other's virginity on our wedding night you know that's about the ONLY thing I did well on our first time.
Like others have said - pregnancy and STD's are VERY REAL problems that you and your B/F need to deal with. But young people in your age group are not very good at using condoms correctly, so talk to a doctor or counselor, or do some research, and make sure you're being as safe as you think you are.

I've read repeatedly that your first sexual intercourse is not gonna be the best sexual experience of your life, so don't despair. I hear it gets better.
The bleeding is probably the result of your hymen breaking, if it's your first time.
Just make sure you have read up on STD prevention and birth control!! I hope you guys used condoms and understand how to put them on!! I have no reason to believe you don't but unfortunately our public schools are sh*t about teaching sex education... they're too busy teaching to the test... don't get me started grrrrr.
Just be careful! There's a lot of misinformation out there... if I may ask, what contraception are you using?
Only condoms offer ANY protection against STDS or other diseases! Be careful!!
