No you dont lose them at all, theyre just lighter and easier to deal with ,and no matter how long your on the pill your normal fertility will return as soo as you stop taking them so dont worry about infertility :)

reader, anonymous, writes (12 September 2009): with the birth control pill you take one daily. The first 21 put a small dose of hormone into your body. This is the same hormone that pregnant ladies have naturally. It tricks your body into thinking you are already pg so your body doesnt send down an egg. On day 22~28 the pills you take have no pregnant mom hormone. Your body then realizes you are not pg so in a day or two you start your period! On day 29 you start a new pack and the cycle starts all over. When you are older and decide that you are ready to have kids, you just quit taking the pills and as soon as the hormone is completely out of your body, it will begin producing and sending down eggs again. The birth control pill not only guards against pregnacy, but helps to regulate irregular periods, as well. The doctor will explain all of this better than i did, but for now i hope this helps. Good luck.
