I have fallen behind in university so much this year and i'm annoyed because i was dealing with depression, severe stress, bad illness, i just couldn't focus and now i have screwed myself over.

I'm at the point where now everything is back on track 5 weeks in, I am at a lost and no idea what i'm doing. The problem is that it's a computer based course and i missed learning the new software, the briefs and i'm several weeks behind on starting my project which is in very soon!! It's only today it hit me how far behind i am and i'm struggling to catch back up. The first two weeks here I had gotten really ill, the doctors said I had an allergic reaction to something which was the cause of all my symptoms and bad illness. Then after i fell ill again with the flu and a viral infection, so that's three weeks i'd missed and once i was better i found i was in the habit of not going to my lectures, that soon after i was dealing with depression and bad stress with things going on here and around me.

I know it's no excuse but being ill, stress, depression, my lack of attendance and everything all had screwed me!! I'm so scared i'm going to fail my degree and i'm sat here feeling like my depression and stress is coming back again and i can't deal with that, it's such a horrible feeling and i've only just gotten myself past that stage. I don't know what to do, my friends said i need to be honest with my lectures and get help whilst i can, but i don't want to tell my lectures what's been going on and why i have missed so much and fallen behind, they'll be disappointed and so angry. Not to mention my parents would be fuming, so now i feel like i've let myself and everyone down and i don't know how to get back on track!!?

Hi, its also the stress of exams coming up that is making you feel worst. You firstly need to stop stressing or this will set you back even further. If you have not already set up a timetable do so now. Spread the work over the time you have and also a little sacrifice is needed from you. No dates, no movies, no shopping just dedicate yourself to your studies and projects, I promise it will pay off. You should have got the class notes from friend as that will also help. Dont write, just photocopy someones notes. It is still possible to pass no matter how you feel. Just stop stressing and feeling sorry for yourself. You are a bright person and did not get this far just to fail. Believe in yourself and hang in there. I would rather have tried and failed than failed not trying. You control your own destination, dont let anything or anyone set you back. I am a qualified Chartered Accountant and I have been in your shoes, so dont give up. Develop a positive attitude and give it your best shot. You dont have to work to get an "A" just to pass. So focus on whats important and you will succeed.
