Well it sounds that maybe you both have ran in to some problems and he doesnt want to love you right now as it would be easier for him to walk away. Although this is quite selfish as he needs to be able to work hard on your relationship and it doesnt sound like he can be bothered doing it.
We all think that our first love is going to last forever but this is rarely the case, we go through heart ache but this makes us stronger as a person and makes us learn how to deal with relationships.
So sit down with him and tell him you need to know exactly how he feels and why he wishes he didnt have feelings for you, he needs to be honest with you and you him if it is going to work.
