Well yester day I was camping with my friends. We were cooking our tea when I pop came from my throat. My voice turned raspy and very quiet. It hurt to talk.

In the morning one of my friends said that my vice was different. And I was slightly deeper. After that it suddenly changed again and it was veri silent again and high pitched. It stayed that way for 5 hours. When I got home my voice was deep again. It has been on and off like this for 2 days.

I know it's breaking

It all depends on your jeens, i had a friend and his voice started breaking at 10, it will usually happen at like 12-16 however can be younger or older. you will also start to get an adams apple it may like look like it but if you feel there should be a lump, i am 13 and my voice has broken but that is the age it should usually happen or the symptoms that will show!

I'm 12, my voice is breaking, I think in one of the answers it says put your finger above your Adams apple then swallow, if you feel a popping sensation your voice is breaking.

I'm 13, my voice is still the same, it's not getting higher but it's getting low at various times of the day, it hurts my Adams apple because I have to cough to stop it, I was in class coughing every 30seconds because of my voice, it pissed my teacher off. Is my voice breaking do you think?

I am 12 and I can feel and hear my voice breaking. So it get all squeaky and my voice has already started to get lower. I can barely hear it but I can a little bit. I don't know what I should do since I sing a lot choir talent show and all and so the problem is with me that I may get boos and stuff because of that but I guess I will have to get used to it.

Im 12 and my voice is breaking. It started when i was in my bed facing upwards. Then, my throat popped really hard and my throat felt strange. The next day, i looked in the mirror and my throat got strangley bigger. Then through the week it got bigger and bigger! Then my voice started to go high and low and cracking. Then, in sex education lesson. We were talking about the voice breaking and the teacher used me as an example, i was so embarressed lol.

But the best way to see if ure voice is breaking, it to rest youre finger of where the highest bit of youre adams apple is, and have a hard swallow, if it makes a popping sensation then its probally breaking :)

A male reader, anonymous, writes (17 February 2008):

The Average age for a boys voice to break is 14/15 years old. If you voice squeaks at times, then your nearly there. You've probably herd this alot, but it all really depends on what speed you are going through puberty, and ti varies depending on different people. If your Penis is rather large, than it may be soon, but if it is rather small, then it maybe a while.

Hope this was a help, good luck! x

this is quiet a common problem for young boys going through pubity , your hormones are to blame , as u get older

your voice will get better as i can assure you its jus a matter of time. i would imagine you voice will be fine no longer than ur 17 birthdayy.

Dawnie agony auntIn response to your question i would guess that your voice has already broken. My son is 12 next month and his voice is still the same, no deepness whatsoever. You are conscious of it but other people probably are not.Maybe you should ask an older male, possibly some-one in the family or a friend see what they think.

A female reader, CarrieMagdelene United States +, writes (12 February 2007):

CarrieMagdelene agony auntMy boyfriend talked like that when he was 11, with a really deep voice. It stayed. His voice hasn't got any deeper, but he's still hard to understand, and he's fully mature. I guess it's just the way you will sound. If your voice hasn't changed in a month or two, that's probably how you'll talk into your early twenties to early thirties.

The key is not to mumble. Hold the phone a little farther away from your mouth, and really TUH your T's, but not over-actively. T's, S's, and other letters are hard to hear sometimes, so you've got to really put effort into it. Hope this helps!!

Looooveeee! -Carrie

Dr. John agony auntIt should not take long for things to level out.

However, in the mean time you might try things to sooth the vocal cords like warm liquids such as tea or broth and even cough drops can help.

I have taken singing lessons and even though you may not think these will help you may be surprised. Doc.

I may not be a dr but surely the fact that your voice is so deep means it has broken already?a boys voice usually becomes deeper around 12-15yrs old(when puberty starts) or at least thats what happened to my stepson.
