At only thirty years old, my boyfriend has black gums and yellow teeth. The one time I (gently) brought it up, he said that he needs thousands of dollars worth of dental work and is putting it off indefinitely. To me, ensuring that your teeth don't rot out is one of the FEW GOOD reasons to take on debt, but I'm afraid if I come on too harsh he's going to judge me for being shallow. I don't know how to tell him that this issue goes WAY beyond cosmetics for me... but the truth is, when I picture our future together HE'S WEARING DENTURES! HELP!!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (8 June 2007):

your boyfriend has a case of periodontitis and gingivitis disease. he needs to seek a dentist as soon as possibe, this is very unhealthy for him and his oral health. therefore, if not seeking dental health soon, there could be a loss of teeth and gums will start receding with the teeth. it will be painful!! if you have any questions regarding what i just wrote do research or seek a dentist. i just do not have the time to explain and describe upon those terms but luckily i gave you some information about your boyfriends oral health within his teeth and gums.

Jovial agony aunti think this is one of those situations that you take or you leave. if i understood you correctly this is not a matter of hygiene right? so i believe that your bf knows that he does have a problem that he will have to solve sometime in his life. and he told you that a lot will be needed to pay the bill. why dont you just support him on his decision and encourage him on doing maybe extra work so that he can get enough money to payup without putting pressure on him.

its good you brought it up but its up to you if you wanna be with him together with his yellow teeth or you wanna go somewhere and get another man with white teeth the choice is yours so stop making decisions for him a debt is not a good idea believe me it doesnt matter how much u justify it, it is totally unacceptable and it should be his decision as he is the one who will be faced with that loan repayments. be his supporting system not an embarrassed girlfriend.
