My friend had a near death experience ,resulting after a car accident. She says ,it changed her life for ever ,and now she knows, there is more to life, and that she saw herself from outside and so on.And I have hard time to believe all this, and it makes me a bad friend.

First of all, I want to ask, what do you think of this experiences? And if it is real, how come not everybody has it , who brought back to life after coma, and accidents?? Do you believe in this phenomenon?

Honeypie agony auntI believe that it is real for the people who have them. Whether it is something the brain cooks up (like dreams) or if they are more tangible I can not say. No one can.

The brain is a magnificent thing.

As for your friend. She experienced something. You don't have to believe it, just support her.

Imagine living in the middle of a desert for your whole life, seeing nothing but rocks, sand and the occasional oasis. And someone shows up and talks about scuba diving and oceans. It seems so far out of the norm that it is hard to believe,it doesn't mean that oceans doesn't exist.

It depends on your interpretation of near death experience OP. To me they're just a purely neurological phenomenon, the brain has certain mechanisms that create a serenity brought on by shock and as it is shutting down for the final time. The light and the tunnel thing has been well documented and explained in medical terms. You get the same effect when you pass out from hyperventilation.

If you're not talking about that kind of one and simply a matter of her coming to the realization that life is too short not to live it well because she nearly died, then yeah that's a very real thing what effect it has on her we just can't know, nearly dying can be an uplifting experience for some, others may be very traumatized by it and others like me aren't phased by nearly dying because I have no fear of death and already know it can happen any time, anywhere and in an instant.

1. When i was two, me and my dad went snow tubing. We both got flung out of the tube, and my dad would have landed on me and crushed me to death if he hadn't out his arms out, creating a cage around me.

2. When I was five, my mom took me to get a haircut. There was a bowl of candy, including those tiny little butterscotches. I took one, and it went down my throat. I couldn't talk or breath. Didn't tell anyone, till someone at the salon noticed I was turning red. She asked if i could talk, i said no. She asked if I could breath, i said no. All of a sudden, the salon was in panic. Everyone tried the heimlich manuver on me, but it didn't work. My hairdresser finally put me over one knee and did the normal thing you do for babies. The butterscotch came out, and I could breath.

3. When i was in first grade, i got multiple sicknesses that made me throw up. I almost died of dehydration. I had to get an IV, and they expected me to only need two bags. I went through 4 1/2. i went from refusing to eat anything to crazily hungry (a very good sign for a dehydrated person), and from that day forth, pasta is my favorite food.

4. When i was ten, i went on vacation in germany, in the lovely little town of Garmisch-partenkirchen. The town is right in the middle of a valley, so we did alot of hiking in the mountains. It was spring, so all the snow was melting and forming alot of rivers. One of the streams if water flowed right over a path in the mountains. I fell, but caught myself and almost went over the edge.

So yes, people have many near death experiances. I'm surprised you haven't. Its not a phenomemon...its life. These didn't really have an impact on me, i was pretty young. But I understand that you friend was older, so it made an impact on her. I have trouble understanding why you don't believe it. Theres even a TV series "i almost died". Your friend is telling the truth.
