Are big areolae(2 inches) a turnoff?

Is an areolae reduction a turnoff to men or are men ok with a reduction?

2 inches is completely normal. why on earth would you want to reduce thm? I dated a woman with ones that were maybe twice as big (granted, she had very big breasts), and it was fine. I think 2" areolas would look odd if you were flat chested, but guys expect a woman to have larger nipples and areaolae. too small and they look like a guys...not really a turnon.

It's something i'm insecure about and i always hear men make fun of pepperoni nipples etc

too small would definitely not be a problem for me

So_Very_Confused agony auntI will tell you that mine were reduced in June as part of a breast lift (mastopexy)and now in my opinion they are too small... so tread carefully.

I like large areolae myself. It's certainly not a requirement in a woman, but I do like them.

I don't remember discussing this with other men, but I have never heard a guy say he didn't like them. Even if some men don't like them, it can't be much of an issue with very many or I'm sure I would have heard someone say something at some point (I'm almost 50)

To my mind, an aversion to them would be something akin to a very strange and rare fetish of sorts. I tend to think more men would like you the way you are now than they would after the surgery.

Has a man ever made a negative comment to you, or is this purely in your own mind?

Thanks to everyone who answered and everyone who will continue to answer!

I will continue with the areolae reduction because it will help my self esteem and confidence levels, but your opinions are appreciated!

So_Very_Confused agony auntI would not have an areolae reduction if that's the only thing that's the issue.

Men are not going to whip out a tape measure and measure them... as long as you let them play with the "titties" most men will love it....

Odds agony auntBig nipples are just fine, don't worry about them. The reduction scars, however, will not usually be fine. Stick with what you've got; usually by the time a guy sees your nipples he's not in a state of mind where he will consider them a dealbreaker.

Don't fret, there's no party line "men" have to follow concerning women's bodies. The men which are right for you will find it part of what makes you be you. Despite what you might think, we don't want our women to look like models.

As the Bridget Jones movie says, men love women "just as they are". We certainly don't think "if only she had smaller areolae then I could love her".

Besides, by the time he gets to see your areolae he should have other things on his mind :-)

I certainly wouldn't be having surgery to "fix" something just because it doesn't meet some ideal that men don't really care about (and if he did care about it then you should start to worry about the quality of your man). All that pain for such a small result. And what if it went wrong?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (5 October 2011):

Dear 'Areolae'- I have a question for you? When have you ever taken your clothes off and some man said that " I can't have sex with you because your areolae are too large?"

Your breast will change shape when you gain or lose weight, or when you are pregnant.

I used to be the president of the "itty bitty titty committee" or that is how the kids made fun of me.

I used to wear a shirt with no bra and no one could tell. My areolae used to seem like it was my whole breast but one I got into extracurricular activities and had a child my breast changed and became more balanced. Also, they are important if you plan to breast feed. Focus on something else in your life. Give yourself time to develop and i'm sure you will fine with them in the future. Also, you may find a better use for your money.
