These sound like Braxton Hicks contractions also known as false labour. They happen a few weeks before birth but you usually don't feel them in a first pregnancy. Just google for more info.
As for the discomfort, it sounds like your baby's head has already engaged in the pelvis. I don't want to scare you but you might not go the full 4 weeks!! Please note that you can only get proper information from your doctor. Nobody can give you a fully accurate answer here. Good luck with the baby!
