Any thoughts on how to end a friendship?

A female Canada, anonymous writes:

Hoping people can give me a hand here. Some good answers on this site. I have a 'friend' who is great much of the time... but not always. Every now and then she can get kind of belittling and mean to me and it is usually in front of others. I was talking about a rift I had with someone a couple of years ago and she asked it she thought that person really remembered it... good point I guess but it was in front of others. I jokingly said that of course she would and this girl kept egging me and asking me if she really would remember it. She would not let it go which I found so childish for a woman of thirty five years old. I just turned to other friends and blocked her out. I did not liking doing this but what choice did she leave me? It seems passive aggressive to me and I am thinking of ending the friendship. Any thoughts on how to end a friendship would help as well.

Thanks in advance to all who help me out here.
