If you have strong muscles covered in fat, it will still look fat. You can not lose fat in a specific area, you lose it overall. Fat is lost by using more calories than you consume. Fat loss is best accomplished by doing cardio activities (running, swimming, kickboxing etc.) One thing I do to control my diet is to drink a large glass of water after I eat a well portioned meal. It helps my body to feel full by giving me more time to begin digesting before I feel the need to engage in a second helping. However, never allow yourself to feel hungry. Hunger means that your body needs food. If you starve yourself, your body will go into starvation mode and try to reserve fuel in case it isn't fed for a long time. Basically, it screws up your metabolism. Try to snack all day and do exercises that keep your heartrate up (nonstop) for at least 20-30 minutes a day. Drink lots of water because in addition to curbing cravings it also helps everything (for example, your digestive track) to run smoothly. Do crunches and situps that target different areas of your stomach and try to vary your workouts. Just remember, crunches do not get rid of fat so if thats what you've been doing, burn off the fat and then you'll see the hard work underneath.

First things first, it will take awhile. You can't get flat abs as quick as everyone makes it out to be, at least on a normal daily schedule. What you need to do is do partial sit ups, only to halfway. Do these in the normal upwards direction, followed by to the left and to the right. I'd probably say start at 10 repetitions for the left, right and centre with a 1 minute rest after each set. Do these about 5 times in the morning and evening and in a few weeks you should hopefully have those abs you desire.
A few important points to note...
- If you feel a burning pain in your stomach, push into it for a while and then rest for 5 minutes. You don't want to cause any injury to yourself.
- If at any point you feel pain, stop until the next session. Tentatively try again. If the pain is no longer there, continue with your exercises.
Hope that helps! You can also use a gymball to build up those muscles around and including your abs but you would need to buy one first. I would try the sit ups for a while.

There are a few factors which contribute to obtaining a flat stomach, the main one being eating the right foods. Consume carbourhydrate foods during the day for you energy, and a protein based meal for your dinner. For targeting the abs i normally start of with hitting the lower abs, for this i do leg raises, as many as i can. Then incline crunches whilst holding a weight to my chest. Then flat crunches on the floor, again as many as i can to failiure. For the sides or (love handels) i do side bends with a weight in each hand. To target the obliques i do flat crunches but bring the right elbow over to the left knee, then the left elbow to the right knee, again as many as i can to failiure.
Hope this helps you, and good luck x
