The doctor told you not to have sex as the infection has more of a chance to get better plus you could pass the infection to your partner which in turn he could pass it back to you..Your partner may not get any symptoms so you just have to go through the whole thing again if the symptoms come back plus your partner may need some cream to stop it from passing back and forth hunny..TAKE CARE WITH LOVE MANDY XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I think albothyl is nothing more than an antiseptic/disinfectant? If that's right, then the instruction to avoid sex was most probably to avoid risk of further infection or irritation - quite simply not to risk pushing anything unnecessary into an area where an infection is, hopefully, healing. In the same way that you would cover a cut or graze to avoid getting dirt into it.
If there's nothing else you ought to be telling us, then it's not going to be a major catastrophe if you've had sex, but do check with a doctor if you are concerned.
More to the point, what caused the cervicitis and are you taking other medication for the cause of it? That might completely change the situation and be far more serious.
