Hello. I know this is a bit off topic but I was recently contemplating becoming an exotic dancer/stripper to make some extra cash but wanted some advice as to what a dancer should ideally look like. I workout about 3x a week running 30 minutes to 1 hour plus weights and currently am 5'6 and 140lbs. Do you think this is too large for a stripper? My hubby says that guys like girls who have curves but are in porportion but I think he's just trying to be nice. I would ideally like to weigh between 130 and 135. Suggestions are welcome as far as weight/diet/exercises and changes to be made in order to pursue the career choice. Thank you :)

dr.2.be agony auntThere are strippers that are all shapes and sizes because men are attracted to women that are of all shapes and sizes. As long as you are fit and proportioned, there is nothing wrong with your weight. Your weight is much more than how much fat your body has, its also your muscle mass, water, organs and bone structure. It sounds like you take good care of your body by working out and eating right, so I would not worry too much about being too heavy.

I would say you may be a bit too heavy for it but more importantly probably too muscly!! As it sounds like u work out a lot, u don't want a stripper with madonna arms

Being a stripper or dancer is about far more than weight. Men want to view confident, proportional, sexy women who have a nice complexion and a knack for dancing. If you are a fit and healthy 140 lbs. at 5'6" you aren't necessarily too heavy. Muscle weighs much more than fat.

chigirl agony auntKnow what? If you are actually serious about this then you need to go fill in an application for such a job and ask the people who hire the dancers. Only THEY will know who THEY want to hire. So THEY are the ones you need to talk to, and discuss this with, as they are the ones who'll be hiring you or not. Doesn't matter what people online think, we aren't your future employers. That's like asking "do you think I can work as a doctor if I study this and that topic and get this or that grade?". We can't tell you, you need to send in an application and see for yourself.

Miamine agony auntSigh.. men aren't being nice, and it's sad that we women don't listen to them when they give their opinions on body issues. Best thing is to find one of them stripping clubs, give them a call and get better advice. It's not about what men will like, it's about what type of person the employer is looking for. Think you need skills on the pole now, so you can also look for classes in the area, and ask the teachers if they know what skills/looks/personality exotic dancers/strippers actually need.

I think for the man; its an ego thing. He can brag to his friends his wifes' a stripper.

I dated a man that showed my latex photos to his co-workers without my consent and when I found about it - PISSED. It didn't help he told his co workers he was busy banging me all weekend. Not fun when you discover a man you like and adore thinks lowly of you.

I guess if You and Hubby are okay with it; then sure, make some extra cash. Just know that that opens up the doors to your marriage. YOu can think you are wise about it and even if Hubby NOW thinks its cool, it may not be down the road when you have men wanting to climb all over you.

You have a great sounding body. Ever think to do the webcam exotic model/dancer thing instead?

I eat about 3 fruits a day and a bag of vegetables. Plus cranberry juice, v8 and green tea. I eat a primarily gluten free diet so carbs aren't really an issue. As far as ab work I do about 110lbs on the ab crunch weight machine along with planking and situps at a 45 degree angle with weights...and sidebends. Occasionally I will do pilates. I've never really gotten into yoga though if it will help I suppose I will try it...

So_Very_Confused agony auntbony women are never attractive... women with proportional curves are preferred...

does you hubby think you would make a good exotic dancer? then you probably will....

one of the most popular dancers we knew at a club was someone's grandma... she was in her late 40s and not stunningly beautiful but rather common place... but the guys loved her...

if you want to dump weight... eat 4-6 small meals a day... mostly veggies and lean protein with good fats... carbs it seems they have learned are what make us pudgy...

running is a good exercise.

weight lifting is good

but for me i found YOGA done properly gave me strength and flexibility.

have you taken pole dancing as an exercise... you need incredible ABS to do proper pole work.

Yep he is comfortable with me doing it as he is not the jealous type and knows I am about business and will keep my eye on the prize (knowing its a job with no actual interest in the guys). He also is familiar with the security of clubs in the area and knows that clubs have limitations with touching and such.

TELLULAH agony auntHi,

I think your Hubby is right, Guys like all sorts of shapes and sizes. It would be a boring world if we all liked the same. What does concern me is that he is ok about you doing it?? Cant get my head round that at all!
