I think I'm falling in love with my mother's first cousin, meaning my uncle. He's only 5 years older than me and the last time we spent any time together was when we were really little, until now (I am 23 and he's 28). I havent seen him in years and last weekend I went to stay with his family and we had such an awesome time together, we stayed up all night talking and listening to music. Nothing happened but I found myself thinking about him more than I should. I did kss him on the cheek and he did the same and on my forehead. And every so often he would wink at me when I looked at him. Does that mean something? He's engaged and planning to get married next year, well maybe. He keeps saying that if he finds someone better, then he'll call it off. I am now back at home and miss him soo much and I can't stop thinking about him. I feel like crying. Am I sick for having feelings for him?

New Englander agony auntThe feelings you are describing are natural. Feelings of infatuation and attraction from a somewhat distant relative is nothing to be ashamed of. And even playful flirting in my opinion is fine. I am not up on what range of - relationship create problems - if consumated - but in this instance I believe it is a moot point b/c he is engaged to be married. My advice enjoy the playful flirting as just that. Go to his wedding and find a nice single guy. Trust me you have millions to choose from :) Good luck

Your mother's first cousin is your first cousin once removed. Your Uncle would be your mom's brother.
