hey there,

Well i'm 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby(A boy!!).

Before getting pregnant i was slightly underweight...About 100 lbs..(i'm 5'4)...i'm naturaly slim so this was a normal weight for me. in the early stages of pregnancy i didn't put on much weight atall...probaly because of morning sickness etc. Now though i'm hungry *all the time..I crave quite alot of junk... But i know weigh 127 lbs!!! Is it normal that i've put on this much weight? I'm a little worried about it..and feel so damn fat and unatractive..should I cool it on the junk? thanks for any advice.

Ok doctors say that you are suppose to gain 25 pounds. This wrong! The average pregnant woman gains about 50 pounds plus or minus. You are fine in the weight department.

Just remember that the body craves things because it needs something out of what you are craving. If you crave chips you might need the carbs. If you crave ice cream you might need the sugar.

I would stop worring and realize that a pregnant body is extremely beautiful and just enjoy the growing belly. Your weight is fine. The only way I would worry is if you were 30 weeks pregnant and had gain 75 pounds because that would be bad for your heart and blood pressure. The doctors will tell you if anything is wrong.

They are keeping a close eye on your blood pressure for preeclampsia so they will tell you if something is wrong.

Congrats!!!

lexilou agony auntCongratulations!!!!

I assume you are going for regular check ups and if the weight gain was excessive believe me the midwives would have told you by now!!! Sounds pretty ok to me but Im not an expert just a mum of three. I gained a lot with my first (3 stone), lost weight with my second (weighed the same at 40 weeks as I did at 8 weeks) and gained around 20lbs with my 3rd. As long as you are eating veg and good healthy food in between try not to worry, depends really what the 'junk' is???? With both my sons I craved savoury things like pie and peas, curry, oh and pickles and popadums with my last son, mmmmmmmmmmm, I couldnt get enough. With my daughter it was proper turkish delight and peach bubble bath, i used to EAT the bubbles!!!!!

It is normal to gain weight and your body lays fat in places like upper arms and legs ready for breast feeding so there is a ready supply for the energy you need. Good luck, have you picked any names yet x
