Am I pansexual?

Question - (14 January 2011) 1 Answers - (Newest, 15 January 2011)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Ok, so I'm a 19 year old female. Lately I'e been having some problems labeling what's going on in my head. I don't know if it's just a collection of what-if's or if it's an actual thing. I'd really like to clear this up in my head, because it's making things harder now that I'm ready to jump back into the dating scene.

Since I was young, there have been pretty clear indicators of attraction to both males and females. I've had crushes on both, dated both, but only slept with men. I'm not disgusted by female anatomy or anything, it just kinda happened that way. I always tell people that I don't care what the person has going on downstairs, as long as I like what they've got upstairs. I fall for a person, and the rest I can figure out later. People like to call my pansexual, but I've heard some other names thrown around as well.

Anyhow, lately I've been really attracted to gay men. Like, the idea of them, not me personally liking one and finding out that they're gay. I've been finding myself wishing that I could experience being a gay male, although I know surgeries could never give me the full experience. I find MSM very appealing and sometimes wonder 'gee, wouldn't it be great if I could experience that for myself?' I don't know if this is just idle curiosity, or something that other people experience casually, or something that's worth looking into. I'm very open-minded, but I just wanted to know if this was something others felt, too...

A female reader, petina1 United Kingdom +, writes (15 January 2011):

petina1 agony auntSounds like you are a bit confused about your sexuality. I feel that once you are in a committed relationship then the feelings in y our head will settle down a bit and you can concentrate on that particular person. I'm sure a lot of people your age go through things like this, especially if they are feeling a bit frustrated. Get your self back in to the dating game, start with what you know first and get yourself a man. Take it from there and see if some of the confusion disappears.
