A female reader, anonymous, writes (18 April 2007):

You are not fat. Everyone has a different body type, and while it can be hard to stay positive about yourself at times (what with the media's view of what women should look like), it's important that you feel good about yourself, and realise that not everyone is supposed to be skinny.

And anyways, not all boys like perfectly thin girls.

rk06 agony auntNo. you are not fat. dont even ever let someone tell you that you are. Everyone is unique and beautiful, just as the good Lord intended. Know that you are incredible, and that there is someone out there for you, regardless of your shape and size :)

A female reader, deejuliet United States +, writes (17 April 2007):

deejuliet agony auntNo, not at all. My measurements were similar to yours when I was your age and it sounds to me like you have an hourglass figure. You have the most feminine shape there is. My measurements are a bit bigger than yours are now, but hey! I am more than 20 years your senior! Give me a break! ;-) Dont focus so much on what your measurements are, they really arent all that important. Until I read your question I didnt know what mine were and had to go get a measuring tape to find out. You look good, you feel good, you are healthy and fit. That is what you need to be concerned with.

sweetheart, you are normal! what a weird world this would be if we all looked the same. you certainly arent fat. you are at an age where your body is changeing into a more womanly, shapely figure. your friends arent unusual either. they are simply different to you in their rate of development and genetic inheritance. look on any street any day of the week and you will see many shapes and sizes. with your measurements i think you would look stunning in full skirts and little vest tops or straight legged trousers and a fitted shirt this summer. i bet you will turn heads. be proud of your beautiful curves because i can assure you this kind of confidence in yourself is attractive.

A female reader, blackbeltcadet United States +, writes (17 April 2007):

Number one- I am 5'8'' and 265lbs... at the age of 16. I dont know my measurements, but I am not small. However... I do not veiw myself as 'fat.' Larger than most- yes, but not fat.

Dont let your size get to you. It is ok to be on the heavy side. Yes, in some cases it is unhealthy... but it is nothing to be ashamed of. Did you ever hear the phrase "Big is beautiful"? It is true. And to be honest, no man wants a twig.

You shouldnt compare yourself to your friends. You are your own person and your beauty is your own. Dont judge yourself based on the looks of others because you are only as beautiful as you feel. And dont ever call yourself fat because fat is only in the mind.

IN the words of my friend Zeli-

"I am built for comfort, not for speed"

Be happy as you are

A female reader, been_there +, writes (17 April 2007):

been_there agony auntEveryone carried weight in different places and even in different ways; for example I weigh more than my older sister but am thinner/ a smaller size than her because my weight is mainly muscle weight. From your measurements, I dont envision you as being fat. Remember fat and unhealthy is a completely different thing to what girls in magazines look like!! Its easy to compare yourself and fall into the trap of thinking you should be unhappy because you look/ weigh/ measure differently to others. As long as your healthy and happy, theres nothing else :) be confindent in yur body, remember alot of the time individuals see themselves worse than they are because its easier to criticise yourself than others. Hope Ive been of some help, plz rate me x
