A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

ok so I'm a 22 year old college student and I am also a very family oriented person but lately I haven't been feeling happy around them because: Although i have 3 other siblings, my parents always depend on me to help them out with things but I rarely get acknowledged for my actions, my parents and pretty much my whole family worships my much outspoken and more put together older sister and im always being overshadowed or compared to her smh i mean she didn't even go to college or accomplish anything huge in her life accept get married to a military man and have kids but she is still the apple of everyone's eye!.

Although me and my sister have a pretty good relationship, she loves to brag and boost about her much better life which makes me feel like crap at times and she likes to belittle me and talks down on my accomplishments from time to time.

My younger brother is only 2 years younger but he is still very much spoiled by my mother and can do no wrong in her eyes and is probably her favorite but she wont admit it. Pretty much I feel like my parents pay more attention to my others siblings than me and it can hurt at times because I am the main child always there for them and doing everything that they ask. When I do tell them about accomplishments in my life they don't seem highly enthused but if it is my sister or brother they're bouncing off the walls!.

Sad to say it but I feel like they only have me around to be their personal slave so at this point I'm just looking forward to graduating from college and moving out the house. Could I just be overreacting or I'm seriously being taken for granted by my family?
