A female South Africa age 30-35, anonymous writes:

ok i got a little bit of a dumb embarassing problem now. Why am i always so horny?? Its terrible!

Well i am a 15 year old chick and i always find i'm wet after a day at school. Surely i'm not horny!!! but then why so much discharge? I even wanna wear pads for just this reason only.

HELP please, cos its uncomfortable and it smells !!!

If one bends down they can probably smell it and its not very flattering at all! i can sometimes smell it while sitting down.

It's not nice tho cos i am a clean person and i bathe and stuff.. but after a short while my panties are wet and i smell. I feel like such a dirty person.

What causes this? and how can i prevent it? and how can i control it when it happens? (like the smell)

ITS TERRIBLE pls help...

Ok well if you have discharge that smells then you have a bacteria down their. You have to go see a doctor before this gets worse. I have the same problem and I went to the doctor and they said I have bacterial vaginosis, known as (bv).

BV is a kind of infection that is actually an inflammation of the vagina. It typically happens when the natural bacteria that lives in the vagina starts to over grow. There are several diverse symptoms that can occur, including a fish like odor which is more powerful after sexual intercourse. There can also be a vaginal discharge that can be milky white, yellow or even a gray color.

A female reader, vina_101 United Kingdom +, writes (7 March 2007):

vina_101 agony auntLike Rhythmandblues said go to see a doctor. This is for the sake of your health so you should take good advice on board and not try to dismiss it over the advise a 13 year old (who doesn't know any better) has given you. An infection is not necessarily an idication of sexual activity. There are many infections that come about other than reasons to do with sex. Tell your mother she will understand. I'm sure your mother is a sensible woman so she will not assume that you've been up to no good. Do the sensible thing and tell your mother.

For now wear scented panty liners and carry wet wipes in your bag, use it everytime you urinate and make sure you dry properly after urinating. Change your underwear twice a day and wash your vagina twice a day. If you smell to the point where you can easily smell it then you should change your underwear and freshen up.

Tell your mother and see a doctor. End of. I hope all goes well.

no u see i just typed all the questions on the same day. first i thought i was always horny then i realised i wasnt. so i asked about STI's then i realised it wasnt that. so my last question was that one about vaginal infections. that was the last one you replied to.

so thank you for all your help! i am 15 almost 16 yes and I am not sexually active! i would never ever have sex now. I have only done a little bit with my boyfriend and that is how far it is gonna get for now!

I know it sounds silly that i am worried about it but its hard. i'm not that kinda girl seriously. i have had one boyfriend in my life and thats it!! I sound immature yes but its a lot for a mother i guess to hear her daughter has been fooling around! i'm her oldest daughter so she probably isnt expecting anything like that!

i will in time tell her about it. the more she knows about this boy the better though i think. i wanted to find out EXACTLY what it is before telling her.. so that i can go up to her and say "i think I have blah blah blah".. and hopefully i might not even have anything. I do tend to worry and think of the worst, i go to major extremes. but rather be safe than sorry hey :D

thanks for your help tho!! you rule!

A reader, anonymous, writes (7 March 2007):

Dear poster, the anonymous female that is egging you on about hiding from your mother and worrying about seeing a doctor must be 13 years old as well....get off this childish track and listen to some of the other aunts who are older or the same age as your mother.

We are telling you that you need to see the doctor, the doctor is not there to "catch" you at having sex or fooling around and is going to tell your mother....doctor's have to follow doctor patient priveledge, and just by examining you, he won't be able to tell that you were fooling around with your boyfriend, you can't tell by looking at or examining your vagina that you were fingered....

Seriously, if you are this immature, you really do need to listen to someone older to help you make better decisions in your young life, this is not something you are required to tell your mother, but this infection is just part of being female and is not and indication that you are having sex or fooling around with your boyfriend, so your body is not going to betray your "secret" to your mother.

I find your immaturity and sexual experimentation at 13 very sad and distressing for you, why aren't you more interested in doing well in school and making your parents proud then this kind of drama? Go read a book or something!

A reader, anonymous, writes (7 March 2007):

Don't be stupid, tell your mom you need to go to the doctor because you are having a smelly discharge from your vagiina. Your mom is a girl, she has had these infections before....the one you are describing is caused by bacteria because your anus is near your vagina, and you may have been wiping yourself incorrectly, or it just happens that way on occasion. It will not go away on it's own and why put up with smelling bad and having excess discharge....you may even find your panties wet for not reason as if you had peed your pants, this is very indicitive of a vaginal infection.

Having a boyfriend and fooling around does not cause this type of infection necessarily, your mom already knows this, she is a woman, has a husband, and has had a similar problem I am sure of it so she should not judge you for being a woman.

Go to the doctor, get some medicine and get over this so you can move on to some other drama in your life!

i'm 15 and have a similar problem this won't really help but i'm curious for myself, if it is an infection how would i have got it? so would it be something natural or would telling my mum to take me to an ob gyn doctor result in more questions that i wouldn't want my mum knowing, i.e boyfriends, masturbation ect. and if so how would i see a doctor with out her???

A female reader, anonymous, writes (6 March 2007):

some women do get a natural heavy discharge on a daily basis (myself among them). i also hate that gooey wet feeling so i use a daily pantiliner everyday, i use the kotex kind. they don't cost that much and they come in boxes of 60 or so

A female reader, cd206 United Kingdom +, writes (6 March 2007):

cd206 agony auntOkay, first the horny issue. The reason you're constantly horny is just because you're 15. We've all been there. The hormones drive us all crazy. You say the discharge smells. Does it smell odd or bad because to all of us our discharge smells odd, not bad exactly just different and at 15, you tend to be a little insecure about your smell down there even though it's perfectly natural. If you think it smells bad, ie fishy, it's best to get it checked out in case you have an infection or something. It's probably nothing but you want to be sure! Don't worry about people smelling it. When's the last time you thought to yourself that someone you know or randomly met smelled down there? Exactly. Changing your knickers half way through the day would probably help a lot, as would wearing plan cotton undies and avoiding anything lace or fussy that doesn't let your skin breathe as much. Hope all these suggestions help.

Calm down trust me it happened to us all it passes i was in the same situation i don't have that probelm any more, your not horny its just your body. If its really getting you down change your underwear halfway through the day keep the other pair in a dark zip back (to avoid an embarrassing situation) If its still getting you down go to your docter or try researching on the net if you havent already, but trust me it happens to most lasses.

A reader, anonymous, writes (5 March 2007):

If you are having a smelly discharge that gets your panties wet then you need to go see an ob gyn doctor as you have a vaginal infection.

This isn't serious, but you need prescription medication to make it go away. If you are sexually active, are you? you may even have some other STD and you need to get it checked out pronto!

Ask your doctor how to avoid getting the infection, he will give you some helpful advice.
