Yes, I know it should all be about spending time with the people you love and while that's something i enjoy and look forward to, I'm sure I'm not the only one guilty of failing to notice how lucky I am to have people to share the festive season with and instead look forward to the presents! However, this year is the first that I have started to see things differently. I recently lost my job and as the main wage earner in the household this has put something of a downer on the whole holiday. My family and friends have been so supportive though and so firmly believe that I will use this opportunity to my advantage that it's hard not to allow myself to be cheered up by them!I don't accept help easily as it's usually me dishing it out but the phone calls, lunches and hugs have made me realise how much the people I love truly care about me and that's so much better than any gift they could buy me.What would be the point in having anything if there was nobody to share it with? There are so many people who aren't as fortunate. Service men and women who would love to get home to their children, families spending the day at hospital with an ill loved one...so sad. I have a loving partner, a gorgeous and healthy daughter and amazing friends. I'm going to spend this christmas letting them know how much I appreciate them and building memories...and I can honestly say I wouldn't care one bit if I didn't recieve a single gift!

Being happy and thankful for what you have is always the best way to see it. Because tomorrow is another day...
