 prevention of redness and itchiness: use a new razor for the first few times you shave. shave the direction your hair grows. go slow. use shaving cream or alternative, do not shave dry!!
aftercare: buy some aftershave cream. (Bikini Zone works well for me). wear cotton underwear after you shave. i mean once you get the prevention part done, the aftercare is easy because there will be less redness and itching.
shave when you feel you need to.
and a close shave is when you shave the direction of the hair growth and then the other way too. always parallel in direction. but since your a beginner, it is not good to do that. wait till you're more experienced and then it wont itch and stuff.
