A male reader, LazyGuy Netherlands +, writes (18 March 2008):

LazyGuy agony auntIt is caused by bacteria entering your uthera (piss tube) and going into your bladder.

Sex is a common cause because during the act bacteria can be pushed into your body. Ah yes, ain't love wonderfull eh? They never show that in the movies!

Drink more water and piss more often in general and especially right after sex. This flushes out the bacteria.

Granberry juice has a rep of helping, but basically the goal is to flush out your bladder and piss tube (too lazy to look up correct spelling) before the bacteria can cause an infection.
