But he went on holiday with a friend for 3 weeks, and when he got back he's now suddenly distant and sometimes even rude, and when I ask him whats wrong he says nothing. He'll be in the same city as me for only 4 more weeks. Any advice on how to handle him and the situation?

Hi hun,
I am sorry to say this but I think that your man has realised whilst being away that he is not ready for commitment at the moment. He probably had so much fun having his freedom for three weeks that he feels like being single is the best option for him.
I think that he hasnt said anything to you at the moment and is acting the way around you because he is keeping his options open. He obviously doesnt want to end things with you to realise he has made the wrong choice.
My advise to you is finish with him before he finishes you. I know that it will hurt and you may love him but is it really worth all the pain? Go out and have fun show him that you are not bothered. He will probably beg you to be with him once he sees what he is missing.
