I was surprised because guys barely hit on me and I have never had a boyfriend, been asked out, or been on a date. I didn't even put on makeup when I went to the store and I was really astonished because it was so unexpected. Does this mean he likes me?

I'm guessing he is a bit of a flirt and charmer. Does it means he likes you?
No, it means he LIKES to LOOK at you. And ... maybe get to know you.

You said guys don't ask you on dates. How do you present yourself? Are you being friendly? Because if you act super-shy and closed in they will never ask you on a date. You know, lots of guys are insecure and noones like rejections. I consider myself pretty, but guys not very often ask me on dates or come up to me to tell me I'm pretty. My friend though who dresses provocatively and acts this way also is being hit on all the time. They run after her on a streets with all kinds of offers.Guys might not tell you are beatifull all the time, it doesn't mean you are not. Make up, no make up, if he likes you, he likes you. Next time if you like him back, show it.

He does like you, and he was bold enough to come straight out and tell you, there's probably a lot of other guys that think this too but just aren't as bold as him

What a lovely comment!
He may well be hitting on you, especially if he's your age.
Sometimes I have old men tell me how lovely my eyes are though and they're not hitting on me, just being chatty and nice.
Anyway, it's a lovely compliment. Smile!

i would say that he likes you, although i do think its somewhat strange for someone who works at the store to approach a random girl and tell her she's beautiful, i admire his confidence, maybe its plenty of practice.
