SirenaBlusera agony auntYou sound like a great daughter!!

The other aunts are right, you should talk to your parents before you use Ebay.

You could probably mow lawns, babysit, walk dogs or do similar chores in return for money. Perhaps gather cans/bottles for your local recycling centre? Just be careful... pets/kids are someone's babies! =)

I agree with Luck Fantasy on the Ebay thing. You need to talk to your parents about it.

At your age you could probably also get a job. Maybe that would be a good idea for the weekend. But don't burden yourself too much with it, because it's not your responsibility. The best gift you can give your family is your trust in them and that it will be allright. That said, every bit helps.

I've made money selling homemade lemonade, walking around with those board ads around my waist, working in an amusement park selling toys, working as a bike messenger, babysitter, mowing the lawn, etc. So try that first, because at one point you're going to run out of things to sell.

Good luck and your parents are lucky to have such a great daughter!

A female reader, Luck Fantasy United States +, writes (13 August 2010):

Luck Fantasy agony auntYou are never too young to want to help out but you shouldn't begin selling things without your parents help. Using ebay to buy and sell things involves using a money transfer website called 'Paypal' and this requires having a credit card or bank account.

Your heart is in the right place but you really do need to talk to an older family member before trying to use Ebay.

Also, you need to make sure to tell your parents that you want to help and that you realize that your family needs you. The burden of financial issues should never be something a young person needs to try and solve alone or worry over.

Please talk to your family about this, okay?
