writes: What is it about a man in uniform that drives a woman crazy? My best friend (who I've never looked at sexually) enlisted in the USAF in the middle of senior year of high school; he went into basic two days after graduation two months ago. He's always been a chubby guy but very tall; over 6'5" (he gets it from his dad) as compared to my very petite frame. Well, he's lost a lot of weight. I was there for his basic graduation and one look at him, I legit wanted to throw my panties at him; he looked too good to be legal. In my opinion, anyway. His mom made a joke saying, "You keep looking at my son that way and your eyes will pop out." After that, I was almost too embarrassed to even hug him (I was actually able to get my arms around him! Something I've NEVER been able to do); let alone look at him. We've never formally discussed it but he's hinted at being interested in me in the past but I've always just viewed him like a brother. We're compatible enough (we wouldn't be best friends if we weren't) but is it only because he's a "uniform" now that I'm suddenly interested; am I just being a horny b*tch? Or could it be that I've always had a thing there but didn't realize it until he WAS in uniform?

I think you see a new facet of him and your feelings have evolved. There is something about a guy in uniform, and not only that, but military training instills a sense of strength and self-confidence that might have not been there before.
I actually had the same thing happen to me in reverse. I knew a guy who was kinda shy and in my "friend zone" for years, and he joined the USMC one summer and went through their boot camp. When he came back, the first thing he did after greeting his family was drive straight to my house, look me in the eye, and ask me out. I was floored, and I think I said "yes", but my memory kinda went hazy as my mind played "Dream Weaver" as I saw him. Anyways, we dated for the summer but never got serious (it was mutual, as he had to return out of state for more training and I didn't want to do an LDR). Long story short, he revealed he'd always had a crush on me, but joining the Marines gave him a new confidence.
