Hoaxes

Thanks for deleting those hoax questions. I suspected they were hoaxes when I began reading them.

I'm surprised there isn't a mechanism that lets people flag a question as a hoax. If there was such a feature, it would definitely be a good thing.

I'm going to add one.

Like any agony aunt service we get some hoax questions most are easy to spot - we have one person who has been sending in hoaxes for two years, believe it or not! I usually remove them in batches because they become more apparent en-masse.

It says much more about them than it does about us.

Thank you for that.

It could well be groups of people who think it's funny to troll sites like this, or one individual - but to whoever's doing it, it's not funny.

Sadly it just comes with the territory of being an agony aunt/uncle.

Either way, I'm glad the hoaxes are going.

Nuking them is the right way to go - although whether a question is genuine or not is hard to tell, sometimes, isn't it?

Thanks for your help, Andrew.

Can we have some age limit on the questions as well? Whenever underage kids write in with questions about their relationships with older men, it just creeps me out. I don't mind them asking about kissing boys, dealing with parents or whatever, but probably they do know that something is wrong if they're going out with a guy who is no longer a teenager...
