A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I'm sitting in class around everyone, my teacher stands beside and in back of me for about 2 minutes not saying a word. Then she starts touching my hair for a good minute. Very awkward and made me feel uncomfortable.

Are they allowed to do this? Should I tell someone?

Thank you! She was basically playing with my hair, and I don't like people touching my hair. I'm gonna go to school in a few, I'm also going to let someone know about this

Yes she can get in trouble for it. It's perfectly OK for her to stand behind you. It's not at all OK for her to touch your hair for a full minute. That's wrong, particularly if it made you uncomfortable.

It is inappropriate. Its no surprise you felt awkward and uncomfortable. They are not allowed to do that. You should tell someone. It is good to trust your feelings on this matter, if you feel it wasn't right, and if you feel that its probably best to speak to someone, then you should. Trust your judgement and intuition.

when he was touching your hair you could've shaken your head as to make him understand you don't want him touching your hair, or just say please don't touch my hair I don't like it... Does he touch you often? well if he does something inappropriate you can report him, but i'm afraid just saying he touched your hair is not enough, they'll just brush it off.

", my teacher stands beside and in back of me for about 2 minutes not saying a word."

I think that is normal, my teachers used to do that when they assigned us some task to check out how we were doing, sometimes they would point out that something was wrong... But no hair touching, however I do remember when I was a child I had this teacher who used to pull my ponytail, however not in an affectionate way, quite the opposite really.
