 I don't recommend telling her at all. There have been a number of posts on here about this kind of situation and telling people how you feel can really end in disaster and loss of friend. Trust me....DO NOT tell her.
You need to carry on doing what you are doing and hope she may start flirting or wanting more. If she doesn't see you as boyfriend material then that's it I'm afraid. This situation is very common so carry on doing what you are doing. Asking about a date is a risk.
