He's on again then off again, never know what's up, should I forget him??

So i like this guy and we i told him i liked him in december 23, 2009 and he didnt say anything and on february 3 2010 we started talking on aim for 2 hours and he would comment on my facebook status and w.e so now i still like him i feel like he was playing mind games, my friends hate him and think hes a jerk. One time we would say hi and then not even a hi. Then out of nowhere he would comment on my status and like it. He never hit me up on aim and what should i do? is this guy a jerk or not? should i forget about him and why. please comment thanks(:
