 One of two reasons... either he really does like you and is trying to work out if you feel the same or he's messing with your head. You don't say whether you're interested in him or not but if you are and find out it's a mutual thing then dont do anything until you're sure he's broken up with his girlfriend. She sounds really lovely and trusting and deserves not to be lied to or cheated on.

reader, anonymous, writes (11 April 2007): Maybe when he said that he liked you that he meant as in friends, not as lovers. Or maybe he wants to be with you and have both worlds with you and his girlfriend. Anyway, by the sounds of things, you don't seem to see him as more than a friend so just tell him that you just see him as just a mate and nothing more. That way he'll either understand or tell you that he sees you as just a mate as well. If your feelings change for him and you start wanting him as more than a mate and he feels the same way remember, don't even go there until he's finished with his girlfriend and is single.
