Will there be a chance that I have a healthy, happy baby?

Today I just found out that I am pregnant. I am not sure how far along I am, since my period is extremely irregular. Doubts run through my mind when I think about keeping this baby because 1) I am a smoker, 2) I am taking Isoniazid (INH) for my TB and 3) A week ago I was on Metronidazole (Flagyl) for a bacterial infection. All of these issues as far as I know = birth defects. Am I wrong? Will there be a chance that I have a healthy, happy baby? Any advice would help.

Thank you for replying. I've quit smoking since I found out that I am pregnant. What made it easy to quit was the all day morning sickness!

The doctor will tell you not to worry about what you did in the past and to just focus on now through the remainder of your pregnancy. I know many girls who drank, smoked and did drugs until they found out they were pregnant. Sometimes they were 2-3 months along before finding out. Their babies are all fine. I took zoloft and drank. My baby is totally healthy and beautiful. I think if you stop as soon as you find out, it's fine.

duskyrowe agony auntI would check with your doctor about the medication you are taking, whether or not your baby is in danger. Please stop smoking for your baby's sake, statistics shows you that expectant mothers who smoke have a greater chance of giving birth to babies with a low birth weight and other health problems like asthma. All medications are controlled with the doctor's supervision where pregnant women are concerned, plus eating a healthy diet goes without saying. Normally in this case they may give you an ultrasound scan early to check that everthing is fine. Hope I have been of some help to you.
