Im so sorry for bothering all you wonderful people. This is what i should have included in my previous question posted a few hours back. I just want you guys to confirm the reality to this: will taking anti-biotics reduce your chances of becoming fertile, and what other side effects may they have? I told my doctor about my scare of taking them, but i guess i wasn't clear enough about the fertility part.. Kisses and hugs to all who answer!

Great news Kadisha,

Like Smiles, I've been following your story through your other posts. I was a bit worried about your current talk of babies, cause I thought you were going to college first. Thanks for putting our mind at ease. I'm glad to know that your only being sensible and making sure that your body will not be harmed by medication. As the other Aunts and Uncles have said, antibiotics are harmless and can be given to children and babies. Keep safe honeypie, don't worry about babies and things, when the time comes I'm sure you and your partner will make beautiful babies, and everything will be ok.

Oh Smiles! Lol

wel i only asked because i felt it was important that i know but you got it spot on, having a baby is certainly NOT my next option. Im sure you saw my very first posting here about a week ago on how my bf wants a baby and my feedback on the matter... I realy meant it, im not planning on having baby, atleast not now. That will have to be something i consider when i have a stable and well paying job. Oh, Im also proud to say that my bf is fine with my decision now, he doesn't bring up the subject anymore and he has promised to be supportive.. But boys will forever be boys right? Of cause he will remind me a million times before!! To all who answered, you know i can't forget you. Thank you a million times. Now i know:-)

LazyGuy agony auntThere are so many it is impossible to say, as said, the leaflet can tell you, so can the pharmacy and so can your doctor. A couple of laymen online cannot.

If you mean long-term effects, no most likely not because any medicine with such long-term effects would simply not be given to young women because of the long-term effects.

And if there are short term effects again your doctor would have said so since it is not unreasonable to presume that a woman your age might be trying for a baby.

So most likely not BUT if you want to be sure ask a trained proffesional who knows what you have been prescribed.

A female reader, Tisha-1 United States +, writes (24 June 2008):

Tisha-1 agony auntIf you've been prescribed antibiotics, you should follow the doctor's orders on them. As Emily said, there should be a leaflet that lists the side effects. Do not stop the treatment that has been ordered by your doctor without speaking with him or her first, as whatever infection you have that needed treatment might not get cleared up. The side effects should be listed in the information packet. Also you could talk with the pharmacist or chemist who filled the presciption about potential side effects.

Generally, you've been ordered antibiotics for a reason. And if you don't take them, then whatever infection you have will not just go away. Honestly, this is not a good thing to play around with.

Your age is shown as 18-21, surely you can wait 2 weeks or a month before worrying about your fertility?

There is a little leaflet in the packet of every set of pills and it lists all the side effects and things like that.

Anti-biotics are pretty simple things. They go in, kill germs and do stuff with your immune system. You're not going to be on them for long anyway.

Chill out and eat some oranges as vitamin C will also help you fight off nasty infections.

Good Luck!! xx

Welcome back Kadisha;

Why are you concerned about the effect of antibiotics on fertility?

However, it should have no long term effect if any; but it does have an effect on the birthcontroll pill;

I do not understand, what is happening here; what is your real concern?

Are you trying to fall pregant now?

Your previous posting; before the one about the effect of antibiotics on you or your partner;

"What my man doesn't know won't hurt him or am I walking in quick sand?"

You have only of recent decide to stay with your boyfriend and not the new guy with the baby; surely you are not thinking of having a baby now?

I suggest you must really think about this very carefully; babies are cute and adorable; but look around there are so many orphans; so many single mothers; PLEASE do not consider a baby unless you are in a loving committed relationship and the child is wanted and can be provided for by a loving mother and father; a baby is not going to bring you closer; get your relationship on track; then think about fertility and babies.

You are a wise girl; please think before doing something stupid!

Best of wishes.
