My Dad thinks that it is a bad idea but I dont seem to think so..later on in life i plan to become a registered nurse and make that my career. Being a medical assistant requires training to become certified for at least six months to a year. during this time i will be attending school and training to become a medical assitant. My dad thinks that i will be concentrating to much on trying to be a medical assistant and that i might put that before my school work..but i feel like I am determined to do both. and i would like to do both so that they can be proud and that i can show them that i can be very responsible when it comes to school...Once am done i can have a decent job while im in school..and i can possibly pay for my school..since i take out loans every year. My dad thinks that i am being rebellious because i am doing what i want with my life, and not what he wants..i do not want to be disobediant..i just would like to make my own desicions, and i could understand how he is trying to help me..but when he tells me these things he is loud and fusses at me,,calls me dumb..etc. and doesnt even give me a chance to explain..why i make these decisions...my family is going through a very rough time..and my first mind was not to tell them...but i felt that i would discuss it with them..and my dad thinks that i cannot do it..but my mom is for it..basically i just wanted someone elses input on this situation..should i do it..or do you think that i am not thinking about my future..and have my priorites totally screwed up. Ok if I were you (I too am going to school to be an RN) I would do the medical assistant thing first not while going to school. The medical assistant program is very fast pasced with a lot to learn and you wont be able to handle both it and school.
However doing the medical assistant program will get an ok paying job maybe $15 an hour depending on where you live and really flexable hours. Doing this will also help you once you are in the nursing program since you will have hands on experience to help you study and take tests.
So do medical assistant training first then school but not both at the same time.
I hope that helped good luck.
